IN REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE WE LOST

TODAY IS THE SIX YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE 9/11 ATTACKS IN NYC. I TAKE THIS TIME TO REFLECT AND REMEMBER ALL THOSE WE LOST ON THAT HORRIFIC DAY. ALTHOUGH I DON'T THINK I KNEW ANYONE PERSONALLY THAT PERISHED , I STILL FEEL A SENSE OF LOST. NOT ONLY WERE LIVES TAKEN AWAY SO WAS A HOST OF OTHER THINGS WE TOOK FOR GRANTED LIKE PRIVACY, SAFETY AND TRUST. THE NITE B4 THE SEPT 11 ATTACKS I WORKED AT KRASH IN QUEENS. I CAME HOME ABOUT 4:30AM AND WENT RIGHT TO BED. MY NEIGHBOR CALLED ME AROUND THE TIME THE FIRST BUILDING COLLAPSED. I JUMPED UP AND WENT TO MY WINDOW(I HAVE A VIEW OF NY) AND TO MY DISMAY WITNESSED THE THICK, CLOUDY SMOKE AND HEARD THE SCREECHING SIRENS RACING THRU THE NEIGHBORHOOD. I SNAPPED A PICTURE FROM MY WINDOW JUST IN TIME B4 THE COLLAPSE OF THE SECOND BUILDING. I STILL HAVE THE PICTURE TO THIS DAY. SO LET'S TAKE THE TIME OUT TO REFLECT AND REALIZE HOW PRECIOUS OUR LIFE HERE IS ON EARTH. WE NEVER KNOW WHEN OUR DAY WILL COME.

That day affected us all in different ways...I was still in college, but also a member of City Year...we were in a first aid and cpr training when the fireman facilitating comes in the room He walks up to the television playing the outdate demonstration movies, changes the channel to the news and says "This is happen right now" he turned it just as the second plane hit. At 22yrs old taking life for granted was an understatement...
reality check!
I have a friend that I met within the past year, and she just revealed to me that her fiance' was on one of the planes that hit the towers.
So now knowing someone, who knew someone...its like its happening again for the first time.
Life is definitely short and unpredictable...I recongnize that I am truly blessed...

Excellent blog...I look forward to catching up on your views and thoughts...

Peace
