| I went to the funeral..... »
From the time I started performing in NYC many years ago, I met a delightful young man named Gregory who always seemed to make me chuckle. He eventually became to be known as Gina Divine or Mother Gospel.Once I started working at Escuelita, she made regular appearances on and off stage much to the delight of the staff and audience and especially Sugga Pie and myself. Gina had her faults and shortcomings but whatever she lacked, she made up for it in love and compassion. I am happy to say that I got a chance to pay a visit to my dear sister before she passed away last nite. I will always have fond memories of the fun times as well as the times she just pissed me the hell off but then again, that's what friends do. She always called me Auntie and although I never claimed her as my niece, she became family to me and my kids. I love you Gina and I just want to say "Thank You for Being a Friend".
P.S. If you are not sure who I am referring to, feel free to visit this link

I am actually shocked at reading this news. I always thought Gina was a special person. People always chose to pick on her and made fun of her but what she was or at least portrayed was innocence, understanding, and humility. I can never understand why people derive such pleasure in putting down others in vain attempts to make themselves feel better but I hope Gina is getting her much deserved 10's across the board in heaven. she always did great gospel songs that had me asking what the name and who the original performer was and she always told me. she was very approachable and some of the songs she has introduced me to have become much loved favorites of mine. Gina will be missed and always loved. Her passing is always a reminder to remember to let people know how u really feel about them (if u like them) because there are few second chances.

Harmanica, I just found out about Gina.. My deepest condolences to her family. Definitely a huge lost, I would love how she would come to the show! May her soul rest in peace! Do you know what happen? How did she died? What did she died from?

Hello Harmonica, I remember when you lost your son and it was very very sad and the song you did (I NEED YOU TO SURVIVE LEFT A LASTING IMPRESSION ON ME). so it's with great sadness to hear about Gina Gospel. When Gina came on stage she always made the audience smile. she will truly be missed. When she performs her gospel she put all her heart and soul into making sure it touches everyone. I really enjoyed her performance when you had her on your show. You have truly been an inspiration to many and I know to her. So can you and Sugar Pie do a gospel song tonight in honor of someone who look up to you for guidance, support, encouragement and someone who made everyone laugh. Your continued fan.
Thanks Phil

Good morning! I heard about miss gina through face book! I've seen her a couple of times do her amazing gospel numbers! Inspite of the fact that he did drag, there was some power behind those performances...The last time I saw her perform was when I went to support a friend of mine at a ball! The performance had me in tears as a christian, because he put his heart into it, and I was able to look over the fact that he was in drag! However, my heart goes out to him, because he was badly and sadly made fun of! No matter how he looked, he was still human! Its not about what you say about a person once there gone, but how you treat them while they're here on earth! Made God touch and Bless all!
