Just when u thought it was officially spring, the weather switches back to midwinter. I blame it on all the kids who were out in tank tops, flip flops and shorts when it was kinda cute out. Mother Nature got bitter and said they don't deserve an early spring because they can't handle it. LOL. In other news, Im packing my bag for the "How Do I Look " viewing and performance tonite at William Paterson College. I am looking forward to a fun, energetic and productive crowd of gays, lesbians and others. I will then make my way to Escuelita and pray that things run smoothly. After 12 years, you would think they do but unfortunately every week is like the first day. Go figure. Im out for now, chat soon!

So this past Sunday I stepped out on faith and auditioned for Last Comic Standing 7. I was lucky enough to get an appointment so I didn't have to wait in that long winding line of hopeful comedians. Instead I whisked right by them and straight into the Gotham Comedy club at 8:15am. After some initial paperwork and small talk with a few of the comedians, I was called in front of the three judges and a small group of behind the scenes people. I was told to have two minutes of material prepared and the judges would decide from there. It didn't go as well as I thought. The judges ALL voted no but they felt that I had great stage performance and the female judge was living for my ensemble. I thanked them for giving me the opportunity and then headed out for my post audition interview. It's kinda hard to be in a giddy mood after you have been dissed but I put on a smiley face and answered a few questions. I was then ushered outside to the main line so that they could do a pre-interview w/me as if I had waited in the line previously. That went well and Im sure footage of me will be shown once they start advertising the show. In closing , it was a wonderful experience and it inspired me to continue to do more because it will only be a matter of time before my dreams and goals materialize into success and stardom. Take care and be well.

It's been a full week since I left to go to Lynchburg Va for my buddy's funeral. The service was really nice and it gave me a chance to see where my good friend grew up and it also helped me to understand why he was so adamant about not returning there to live. Lynchburg is a very quiet and laidback town and Maurice just had too much personality and energy for that. Upon returning home, I was informed that two arrests were made in connection w/his murder and it made the whole journey down there even more worthwhile. It is one thing to be brutally murdered but it's even more awful if no one is apprehended and held responsible for it. Now I know this would bring some comfort to his family and other friends. The funeral made me ponder on what I would like done in the event of my passing such as how I would be dressed, the program and the whole service in general. I need to write these thoughts down and give them to several people so that my exact wishes can be carried out. Death is something none of us can escape but if we prepare for it mentally and financially, it eases the burden on everyone. Have a great weekend and I will be back real soon.

As I sit here waiting for my friends to pick me up so we can begin our voyage to Lynchburg VA, I can't help but ponder on the loss of my friend Maurice Crider aka Sex Appeal. I met him some time ago when I was the Monday nite hostess at Two Potato in the West Village. He was an outgoing country boy who was just starting out as an male entertainer. His creativity and guts paid off for him and his name became known around the East Coast. As friends, we had many ups and downs but through it all we remained rather close. Once Stella's closed there were very few venues in NYC to dance at and Maurice started to slowly go into retirement. He would occasionally work at Escuelita for my t-dance or travel to DC for a gig. Eventually he stopped dancing altogether and found steady employment through Radio City Music Hall where I was also employed. Our friendship continued and flourished even more since we took the same route home most of the time. This continued until I left Radio City in Jan 2007. After that, we didnt see each other as much but we continued to stay in touch. Somewhere down the line he began to meet people who I feel didn't have his best interest at heart. He became somewhat distant and secretive but I knew all along something wasn't right.I tried to be there for him as much as I could but I slowly felt like I had already lost him.His funeral is Sat 3/13 in Lynchburg and a few of us are driving down to pay our respects. He will always be a part of my life and although he died an untimely death, I do believe everything happens for a reason. Thank you God for bringing Maurice into my life and allowing us to become friends. May he rest in peace.

My trip to Japan was awesome. Even though it's quite an expensive place to live in or visit, I had a blast. The many cultural differences there was quite an eye-opener.It's so welcoming to walk into a clean and litter free subway station and board a quiet and reliable train. Talk about prompt and right on schedule. I also enjoyed the heated toilet seats alot but I wont get into that for long. The Japanese men for the most part prefer Caucasion partners but if you search hard enough you will find one or two who like chocolate and its usually worth the wait. I only wish it was more tourist friendly with more signs in English. If it wasnt for the pics on the menu at Mickey D's I would have been clueless. My jet lag is slowly going away and I should return to my regular self and sleep pattern by Wed mid-afternoon (I hope). I also received some bad news while out of town. A good friend was shot and killed in Irvington NJ on 3/6. His name was Maurice Crider and he used to dance at Stellas and Two Potatoe in NYC. His stage name was Sex Appeal. His senseless murder haunted me all the way home from Japan. He was a dear friend but in my opinion easily influenced and not as street savvy as he thought he was. May he rest in peace. His body is being flown back to Lynchburg VA where he was born. I will always remember him.Heading to the Cage in a few so I guess I better sign off now. Take care and be well.

I am looking forward to my trip to Japan. From 3/2 till 3/8 I will be visiting Tokyo and a few other cities. Japan has always been on my list of places to visit and since I have had a few Asian bf's in the past so I'm not stranger to an exotic, hairless hunk. When I return to the states I will be utterly exhausted Im sure but the show at the Cage will go on as planned 3/9 and if you are in the audience you will be the first to hear my tales of the Orient. Have a productive and fun-filled week.
